Kitchens must always be kept spotlessly clean. A clean kitchen is also a pleasant place to work while an unsanitary kitchen can cause illness.
Especially behind appliances. Cupboard doors should be properly closed. The floor should be mopped clean. The garbage area needs to be kept especially clean. It may be necessary to spray with insecticide each night, especially to kill cockroaches.
Below are practical tips to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area:
Refrigerator interior
Wipe the refrigerator interior frequently. Before placing bottles, jars and other containers into the refrigerator, remember to dry them to prevent mold and bacterial growth, and to prevent spoilage of contents while inside the refrigerator. If anything spills in the refrigerator, clean it up immediately to avoid molds and foul odors. A saucer of baking powder or charcoal will help to absorb odors inside the refrigerator.
Refrigerator exterior
Wipe the refrigerator exterior after cooking. This will help maintain its color and free it from oily residues. Rinse dishes immediately after meals. Wash the least greasy items first: Glassware and cups, silverware and, then, plates. Pots and pans come last. Clean off table after preparing food to minimize germs and stains. Wipe off wet Surfaces to prevent staining.
Utensils
Clean all utensils before cooking to prevent possible diseases. Keep the kitchen environment clean. Pay particular attention to garbage Grinders, exhaust fans, grease filters and floor drains.
Drain
Never pour hot oil down a drain. Oil solidifies and may easily clog the drain. Pour hot oil into an old container and discard it when it solidifies. Try cleaning clogged sinks by pouring baking soda crystals down the drain and pour boiling water over it. For clogged sinks, a makeshift plunger can be made by using one or two thick sponges covered with a cloth. Tie the sponges to a sturdy handle, such as a large wooden spoon. Block the sink overflow outlet with tape and press the plunger into the sink hole. Pour water into the sink to cover the plunger, then pump vigorously.
Garbage
When you are done with the dishes, rinse out the sink and drain with clear hot water. Wipe the faucets, spout and drain board; then, wipe with a dry cloth to prevent water deposits. Put food shavings and leftovers in a garbage bin or plastic bag. Remove contents at least once a day. Make it a habit to empty the garbage bin before retiring at night on a daily basis.
